day 2194 – hard surface unlocked

i’m very proud of this because i just did my first back tuck on hard surface and i went for it without the spot that was offered. i’ve overcome a lot; from fearing to do it myself to now finally taking it to hard ground. i’m sure my coaches are also proud of this, one wasn’t present but he who has been pushing me to get my back tuck variations. i’m gunning for the x-out and more variations after that. the bonus of being able to do flips in different environment is catching the sunset in the background

day 2184 – taro ball

flipping was made difficult when my right glute suddenly started cramping after some front sweep drills. training was compensated but i was determined after some lacrosse ball rolling and stretching. i still continued to do what i could and made much progress on my x-out; so much i had the courage to try one on the floor. i think it’s getting really close. we ended the night going for noodles, shaved ice dessert, pokemon raid, and a visit to wu’s. not a bad way to end a friday night

day 2147 – back at flips

ever since i got back from my europe trip, my body has been experiencing nonstop and soreness. soreness from one thing hasn’t left my body and more soreness is added from another activity. i’m still really happy to be training again and seeing the people i’m used to doing flips with. working on arabians after hours because i haven’t landed anything in a long, long time. it’s definitely time to get a head start on some new moves and make better progress

day 2123 – london eye

immediately rushed out to meet up with the boys after landing and checking in my airbnb. by then it was pushing 4pm, where we finally had lunch near westminister district. the group of us walked around looking at westminister abbey, westminister bridge, london eye, big ben and trafalgar square. at the end of the day, i attempted a back tuck in front of london eye but i really wasn’t satisfied with the flip itself. i wanted to try again but at the same time i knew i was too tired and too full to make any better attempts. and this was only day one in london, but felt like i’ve been up for forty eight straight hours

day 2120 – flips and flops

packing could wait for until i was done my flips. i was adamant on going to flightclub tonight because it’s the last one before my long trip. i had both my ankles taped just to air on the safe side. my back tucks felt strong today. pretty happy i landed all my back tucks with shoes and no spot, meaning now i have a higher chance of doing some while i’m in other countries. it’ll still feel very different on harder surfaces, but i’m think still willing to try. i hope that stays true when time comes

day 2116 – minoru park

i took full advantage of a saturday off taekwondo by doing things i wouldn’t otherwise have the time for. i first took a trek out to a spa and had an acupressure massage. on my way home, i stopped at the supermarket to grab some vacation snacks and a quick bite. then, i met up with a few flightclubers for the highly anticipated maiko matcha float and that didn’t disappoint. after that, we camped out at minoru park where i was suppose to study for tomorrow’s pretest and flip or play only during my breaks, but it turns out i didn’t get through a single page in my study guide. instead, we spent a couple hours filming tricks as well as teaching them how to toss a frisbee disc. i’m pretty happy with the footage i got from the back flip and feel like it’s improved a little

day 2103 – escape room

slept until 1pm because saturday night shenanigans didn’t end until 5am. continuing my crazy birthday weekend with flightclub family that started with earl’s happy hour, then escape room puzzle solving and ended with an open gym session. it was great both the groups solved the mystery and escape our respective rooms. the giant birthday back tuck circle during open gym was definitely a bonus that capped it all off. i’m grateful so many people in my life wanted to hangout and celebrate my birthday with me
