day 2226 – squirtle girls

friday night squirtle squad games are back in session. since i’m just part timing this season, i get to be a forward. my line was in the attacking zone for the most part but we lack some chemistry. we didn’t win today but it’s really good to see the squirtle faces again because we always have a good time in the change room. i even did a back flip inside after the game. i’m starting to not be too selective with my surfaces which i’m assuming is a good sign

day 2216 – paused snatch complex

looking down at apex from the new warmup and stretching area. i went into the gym ready to do my third week of passed snatch complex, hoping to reach beyond green plates i couldn’t make last week. coach changed it up on me. instead of doing six times, he cut it down to three before going for singles. to my amazement, i beat my personal best by one kilogram which takes me up to forty three kilograms. i made two more attempts at forty four and almost made that if i hadn’t over-corrected it. either way, i’m happy with the new pr knowing i’m only two kilograms shy of the yellow plates. at the end of the workout, i didn’t think twice and just went for the back flip when asked to do one. this would be my first back flip on solid hard ground

day 2128 – grand place

arrived in belgium by late afternoon on a eurostar train and made a very productive first day. started by going far out to atomium where i did my second flip. it was a little better than the first, but still not getting the height and rotation i’d like to see. also visited grand place, manneken pis and bruxelles stock exchange building. we were much more efficient than the original itinerary; i hope it’s not because we’re doing a hasty job of taking photos and not fully absorbing. we even went back to grand place and stayed until 10:30 before deciding this is as much light as we’ll get to see

day 2116 – minoru park

i took full advantage of a saturday off taekwondo by doing things i wouldn’t otherwise have the time for. i first took a trek out to a spa and had an acupressure massage. on my way home, i stopped at the supermarket to grab some vacation snacks and a quick bite. then, i met up with a few flightclubers for the highly anticipated maiko matcha float and that didn’t disappoint. after that, we camped out at minoru park where i was suppose to study for tomorrow’s pretest and flip or play only during my breaks, but it turns out i didn’t get through a single page in my study guide. instead, we spent a couple hours filming tricks as well as teaching them how to toss a frisbee disc. i’m pretty happy with the footage i got from the back flip and feel like it’s improved a little

day 2112 – adventure plex

our gstrings midseason bonder became a season end bonder. the trampoline is a different beast because it gives so much more height and has so much recoil. it definitely took some time adjusting and controlling the front flips and back flips. we also tried the ninja courses, rock climbing walls, dodgeball and free run area. i stayed away from bubble soccer and only did back flips there. we were all so pooped when our two hours were up. i want to come back for more flips, and hopefully next time my ankles will be okay to let me try things like roundoff back flip

day 1443 – blistered pinkies

it didn’t feel this bad when i went to bed, but certainly erupted overnight. it never occurred to me tying copious amount of skate laces would result in blistered pinkies. really tempted to pop the two blisters on both my hands. i hope the water bubble goes away soon because it’s presence is felt when writing and typing. i still remember two years ago on this day i bruised my eye from a back flip attempt. how time has flown by and i’ve been missing the flipping more and more and thought about going back
