day 2204 – pause snatch

it feels weird to be ay apex on thursday instead of tuesday, but it’s better to give my back and neck more time. to be honest, both were still so stiff and tender than i didn’t think i could snatch. week one of tech week working on pause snatch and front squat on the minute style. it felt pleasantly strong and worked up to thirty eight kilogram pause snatch complex. it was a busy day – i had three back to back activities today, all half an hour apart. after olympic lifting session, was softball playoffs round robin and massage appointment. needless to say i didn’t get home to eat dinner until 9:46pm, and at that point i had fourteen minutes left to eat before my window closed

day 2165 – pretherapy

a massage appointment that was rescheduled and rescheduled since early june. this was an appointment was originally set to take a look at my stiff neck and shoulders but turns out he has to tend to my hip was well. one thing i need to do a better job of for self care is stretching and rolling. i should consider switching my mattress and pillow because the pain and tension is ongoing

day 1894 – gym dates

keeping the gym going on through the thanksgiving long weekend. working mainly on my upper body push pull exercises. taken on a challenge with my friends to to get swole and make gains in the next ninety days. i’m pretty set on my goal to cut weight, improve body composition and make those abs more visible. this will be a big test of determination, but i can’t allow any limitations make me lose sight of any of my goals

day 1663 – full body

getting a run in this morning before my teaching shift and hockey game. it wasn’t a pretty game; was in a really big collision square in the chest that gave my back a hard jolt and that winded me. being me, i didn’t miss a shift, but i’ll need to tend to it after the game. safe to say i punished my legs beyond maximum capacity so trying to all types of remedies i can think of. ending my day with a spa-like set up going through relaxation and full body massage so i can go at it again tomorrow

day 1648 – equipment haul


just twelve hours later lugging my hockey bag out of killarney, i’m walking into the community centre again, this time with me a bunch of taekwondo equipment. getting back into the thick of teaching isn’t so bad if i didn’t have to deal with a crazy mother who doesn’t think like a regular human. like i’ve said a hundred times and will say again and again; if u’re in it for the belt, u’re in the wrong place cuz i don’t just sell them. it’d save both my time and her money if i just directed her to a martial art store

day 1398 – getting sweaty 

normally i don’t sweat much, but the way my shirt was drenched sure made it look like i played hard tonight. my ribs are becoming more stable, but still have to play conservatively until chiro gives me the okay to play without limitations. my team played better than what the stat sheet showed; i had a decent night with nine kills and five catches despite trying to play cautiously. hard to believe a thunderstorm is expected to spur tomorrow when the weather was so nice out all of last week

day 571 – victimized

i was the chosen one to partner with someone for their self defense portion of their first and second dan blackbelt test and it was no fun at all. at the end of the night, i have breakfallen, rolled and been thrown over forty times and even sidekicked in the chest. never before have i fallen that many times in a day, i feel like all my internal organs have been rearranged in every possible way. it was a long and tiring day, teaching by the morning and blackbelt test by night. it’s not whether my back and neck will be sore tomorrow, it’s how sore
