day 1756 – japanese kitkat

coworker came back from japan trip with goodies to share. of the many flavors she brought back, i chose the matcha and sake. of the many kitkat flavors i’ve ever tried, matcha is still my favourite. a headache made me feel crappy this morning, i didn’t think i’d stay at the office the whole day. popping a few advils seemed to have helped me head and got me through the rest of it. calling it an earlier day and hopeful it gets better by tomorrow

day 1752 – wagers win

scoring my way through to winning the wager of a sushi meal. from the exterior, i would never have known this was a eatery until my friend highly recommended. everything about this place is authentic – the decor to the service and the food. we ordered a sushi set platter, suonomono, dungeness crab california roll and tempura udon. what i had today were one of the finest and freshest nigiris ever tasted

day 1417 – canucks blowout

too bad i had to teach and couldn’t go but i sent my parents to canucks inventory blowout sale weekend. my family is avid hockey fans so they came back with a few goods and accessories. lots of game worn equipment and apparel available; i would think about them but too bad their sizes are always too big. i’ve always wanted to try playing in goal but don’t have the right sized equipment to do so

day 1031 – kyoto day trip

image

taking a break from osaka and making a day trip to kyoto. so much walking to be done to get to our point of interest; my fitbit registered almost 24000 steps, the most of any day. in hindsight we should have joined a tour which would have tour buses driving up to the front doors. kyoto is a more traditional japanese city compared to the bigger cities. there we had some authentic local japanese style lunch. it was neat, but i would pick normal food over it any day

day 1030 – tsutenkaku tower

so far i’ve spent as much time shopping in osaka as i have sightseeing. there’s a lot more shopping available, but my wallet, legs and suitcase has its limitations. i had my first taste of sushi in japan for lunch; i pick my own dishes off a rotating belt. shinsekai is very similar to richmond night market where it’s predominantly street food. i didn’t end up getting any skewers or fried foods there, but i indulged in a matcha waffle cone

day 38 – venture to west van

had some of the finest and most delicate authetnic sushi at zen sushi in west vancouver. every piece on the dish was crafted by a skillful japanese chef with attention to every little detail. safe to say i will be back for more, but can’t afford to come back too often or else it might break my bank
