day 2151 – one hundred clicks

the big milestone of shadow’s one hundred thousand kilometres has come quicker than i would have expected. driving is something i do a lot of, for both work and play. i get a lot of mileage just commuting to work, going to games and meeting up with friends. i put shadow’s work ethic to the test and it’s my reliable rock when it comes to taking me on adventures. for that i’m grateful knowing i have a trustworthy companion that works so tirelessly. don’t ever change all that you do

2016 year at glance

a look back at the highlights and lowlights of the past 365 days captivated by my carl zeiss lens. a lot has happened and all these snapshots are like puzzle pieces that write my story. 2016 was a year soul searching, a year of adventure and a year of realization. life was pretty grim at times; but it’s how i overcame these hurdles that sets me apart from who i was before. i’ve worked hard and learned a lot about myself and the others around me. i learned that sometimes i need to be selfish because i didn’t love myself for who i was. i learned to carry my own weight. i finally broke out from a plateau and figured out some things; things are starting to click and showing signs of progression. i am excited for the turn of the calendar year because 2017 will be a year of building upon what i have achieved and want to achieve. i’m more than ready to make the necessary adaptations to become the best version of myself and i want my dearests to be there by my side

day 1247 – robson square

image

i can describe robson square outdoor ice rink as a massive crowd of people that falls into two categories: those who can’t skate or skates well but causes havoc. the ice condition was horrible by the time we arrived, good thing we brought our own skates because rentals would not be worth it. i wonder when the zamboni gets a chance to pave the ice. we had a short skate before heading out to check out the new sportchek across the street

30 share it [twenty eight]

an afternoon at cypress bowl with a a highschool friendĀ got us pretty neat stats that tracked some skiing numbers. we went progressively faster with each run and it helped when we chose blue runs to avoid the crowds. my favourite run of the day was the upper fork with midway being a close second; no unintentional black diamond runs for me this time around. i stopped having feeling in my foot at our third run, but at least i wore my balaclava this time and didn’t freeze my face

day 1186 – bonding time

image

our day off before the rest of the team arrives tonight for part two of competition. no events for the team today but still went to catch some sparring action and ran into cosplay expo. a little last minute preparation and team meeting to end the night so we can sleep early in anticipation that we would have none the next night. it’ll be a long day with a full day of competition and driving back immediately after everyone’s events are over

solo series [day twelve]

woke up without a plan but turns out to be fairly eventful. with a transit day pass, we had the luxury of taking multiple lines at any point throughout the day. from there on, we covered a few more attractions including osaka castle, science centre, aquarium, and largest ferris wheel in asia. we inadvertently passed by a judo dojo and caught some kids in action. i wasn’t too keen on hitting up any more department stores, but my mother wasn’t finished shopping. i am done shopping, done walking and done spending

i can’t seem to buy sleep on this trip; my body clock wakes me up at 4am each day. that’s not usual because i can typically fall asleep anywhere. i guess i’ll make it up on the plane or when i get back

tomorrow i will be in transit again, this time a nine and a half hour direct flight back to vancouver. shortly after arriving in yvr airport, mo and i will be reunited. the countdown has now changed to hours instead of days. we couldn’t be happier that the countdown is in its final hours

this wraps up my entire asia summer trip with family. it’s been fun and adventurous, but at the same time draining in far too many ways. my ankles and knees have taken a beating from averaging 20000 steps a day. my body tells me it’s about time to head back to vancity because that’s where my heart is. it hasn’t exactly been a restful vacation, but i needed some time away from my regular routine. i am definitely ready to go home to make some important life decisions, get back on my grind and of course spend lots of time with mo

solo series [day eight]

today is mainly a transit day with bus rides and plane rides. on my way to japan, but first, a short layover in taiwan. i managed to squeeze in short face time chats at the airport. i landed in osaka slightly past 7:30pm and didn’t get to my b&b until well past 9:30pm so my japan adventures will begin tomorrow

this concludes the hong kong portion of my trip. i had an enjoyable time getting to see all the family in my birth place. i can’t complain about the scheduling because i was able to fit in all the friends i wanted to catch up with. it’s always hard to say goodbye, especially to my ageing grandmas. although i don’t get to physically spend time with my grandparents, we do make frequent calls to keep in touch

i had one of those emotional day last night where i wasn’t quite my composed self. i really shouldn’t have mentioned it to mo because it makes no sense for him to worry about me halfway across the globe. i think i gave him a scare but i’m much more relieved and lighter after talking it over with mo
