day 2264 – scooter ride

just because the sun was still out, we did a spontaneous trip out with scooter rentals. i must admit i was nervous since i’ve never ridden a scotter in my life and haven’t ridden a bike in years. we rode it from the shop in mount pleasant to ubc, taking all the bike routes possible. i stayed pretty safe for the most part with the exception of putting my foot down while trying to stop at top speed. that really did it for my knee and i couldn’t put much weight on it afterwards. it was a really fun experience and this checks off one item off my bucket list. though next time i know to layer up because it got really chilly

singapore 2018

the seventeen-day hong kong and singapore trip was pretty good but also came with some hard realization. it was an eventful two and a half weeks full of relatives, eating, walking, relaxing, chilling and exercising. with my parents, we explored the many places of singapore with exceptional architecture and delicious foods. i thought i would gain a lot of weight being in asia with endless eating, but that was not the case since i kept my exercise level up. i met up with old friends who took me on a wild tour to see the ins and outs of what hong kong is about. the main purpose of this trip was to visit my two grandmas. they are getting up there in age and it’s important for me to see them as often as time permits. spending time with them during this trip made me learn the brutal reality of health and aging. both of them had their mobility restrictions. my heart felt sour knowing i can’t help them out of this brutality even with the vast amount of experience, knowledge and education. all i can do is be by their side and spend time with them. with that said, i could see my grandmas’ face glow when i take them out for lunch, or even simply pay them an afternoon visit. regardless of what was said, it was good to spend time traveling with my parents; i don’t get that much anymore. that’s a wrap for my 2018 asia trip. i’ll be back soon enough

day 1936 – lamma island

meeting up with another long time friend and teammate for a day trip to lamma island. it’s my first time on this island so we decided to do a hike and eat a lot of fresh seafood. it was a hot day so i couldn’t keep my long sleeve on as much as i wanted to protect myself from mosquitoes. after lamma island, we took the ferry back and hit up tsimshatsui. that wasn’t a very wise choice because it’s one of the most crowded places on a weekend evening. i must mention part of the reason is hit up via tokyo for some matcha ice cream

day 1755 – rock of deep cove

speeding through the crowds of quarry rock to finish the entire route in fifty nine minutes. this is by far the fastest timed quarry rock i’ve ever done. it was relatively cool the whole hike up and it wasn’t until we were heading down for lunch when the sun started to peek out. although the original plan was to do st mark’s summit, we noticed the conditions appear unsafe. like most of the people we saw, we turned back and i’m glad we did. it wouldn’t have been wise to hike on ice with regular runners while people with proper hiking boots and poles were turning around

day 1632 – forklift 101

an unusual day of work but a very interesting one where i learned many things about cnc protocols. soon i’ll be able to program my own files and run that cnc machine by myself. while i was waiting for the machine to run my test, i had an adventure in the plant. barely a crash course and i’m well on my way maneuvering a forklift and picking things up as i please. the plant guys were surprised i wanted hop on, but least surprised i was quick to pick it up. fidgeting and experimenting with new gadgets is what feeds my curiosity mind. learning opportunities is right before my eyes and it’s up to me to seize every opportunity

day 1555 – team outing

design team is rewarded a team bonding event for what we’ve been able to pull together even when under staffed. we chose to make a trip down to tsawwassen mills for some adventure, food and bowling. just a fun event outside of work setting where we could all just be friends. contemplated if i should have bowled, even though bowling only requires one hand. i did it anyway because i’ve had enough of sitting on the sideline. i just had to be super careful so not to have any unnecessary setback
