day 2350 – nacho business

getting my new nacho jersey after two and a half months out of the nachos lineup and first game since we’ve been tiered down. this will be shortest bench of the season of only nine skaters, so we went with six forwards and three defense. rolling three defense was tough, we ran out of gas by the end of the game. despite the short bench, it was really fun and enjoyable now that we’re in a suitable tier

day 2006 – scrim gone wrong

clearly someone taking scrimmage a little too seriously. the aftermath of a collision during powerskating scrimmage because a try-hard hit me not once, but twice. i took no exception to his second offense and decided to go straight for the bodycheck to knock him on his ass. i’m not sure what he’s trying to prove standing up against someone half his size, but its not welcome here. if i could, i would have knocked him over again because once just wasn’t enough to satisfied the rage inside

day 1848 – open ice

taking advantage of the open ice available since both my spring season of jabba and civil war season came to an end. the radar gun was also on hand so i took a few shots and peeled off once i cracked the sixty mark. i tried a few slapshots but it didn’t feel good enough to continue. the smartest thing to do is to practice my edges so not to over exert my shoulder. also put in some time to work on some weak side forward edge and backward crossovers

day 1803 – battle of chicks

img_20200130_2132107628384068759682602.jpgthe game of the year is a sunday matinee game. this season i’m on the jabba lineup instead of the chicks, though i will always see myself born and bred chicks. it was a super fun game between the controlled rivalry. this will be my third hockey game within twenty four hours and i may not have played if it wasn’t for the game of the year. my quads were absolutely fatigued when i woke up this morning after two game night. all i want to do is stay in my compression pants and not move

day 1760 – jabba debut

saturday night hockey continues, but with the civil war gang. two hockey games that coincided and i had to give up the drop in. a short bench and high tiered opponents were the story of the night. they were skating circles around us so not giving them the shut out was already a win for us. i was pretty gased by the end, i figured i might as well chill at boston pizza with the rest of the gang

day 1482 – playoff pump

DSC_3604was super pumped for my playoff game and ready to play hard as i took my freshly retaped stick and sharpened skates to the rink. i played the strongest game i possibly could and had the firepower from the very beginning with a goal and an assist to show for. i skated on the top line, earned myself powerplay time and also awarded player of the game. even though the loss tonight ended the chick’s season, there’s still tons to take away from this season. i have taken great strides this past season and it’s really an accomplishment when the guys in the locker room nominated me as most improved player. better yet, even guys i play against are acknowledging my the progress i’ve shown

day 1448 – forcing the issue

the ankle is slightly better after another day. it’s still tender to walk on but taking the risk and playing for blings when opportunity is there. a taped up ankle inside a skate isn’t too bad; who needs ankle mobility anyways?? this tier is a faster paced game than what i normally play, but i find it more valuable knowing i’ll learn. i didn’t have any hesitation because i have nothing to lose and everything to gain

day 1286 – ice level

img_20200204_1634461991975510875310832.jpgalmost two weeks since my last chicks game but there’s two late ones scheduled this week. we had a terribly short bench rolling with two lines; that means more ice time for all. i felt i should’ve played better but was too gased by the third period. it’s scary how fast my rookie season has gone by; it’s nearing the end of the season and playoffs are just around the corner

day 1224 – put on ice

image

the drive to the rink was icy, but i wanted to play my game after writing my final exam and handing in the term project that made me sacrifice games the past two weeks. the final was confusing but i walked out and glad to be done. on the ice, a guy nailed me from behind with a cross check. i was fine and got up immediately to stay in the play but my teammates were sticking up for me. glad to know they got my back and didn’t take exception to a nasty hit. i can feel my battery is pretty depleted; not much energy left in me but i still got good chances and best of all my team came out on top
