day 2463 – fresh coconut

successfully opened my first fresh coconut all by myself but with some technical difficulties along the way. i didn’t puncture the top as hard as i should’ve because i didn’t want to cause too much noise. i also tried three different knives before i found one that was tough enough to puncture the cap off. the coconut juice tasted extra sweet and refreshing compared to canned ones . the only downside is it produces so much garbage

day 2462 – zoom jackbox

girls doing a wednesday virtual game night playing jackbox party packs. we had to setup three consecutive zoom sessions because of the forty minute limit. hopefully we can use a different hosting platform next time so we don’t have to switch in and out in between games. gaming has taken over a lot of my free time, and it’ll likely continue through the duration of this covid quarantine

day 2461 – airfryer chicken

mom during quarantine has more free time to browse the internet to try new things. she researched new recipes and made fried chicken with bread crumbs using the airfryer. it tasted pretty good, but i wasn’t having much of an appetite during dinner time. there were many good dishes on the table, but i only ate one drumstick and one third slice of an thin crust pizza

day 2460 – ghetto lift

we couldn’t sprint on the fields with the rain coming down, so we opted to do our first group lifting session in my ghetto garage gym. i only had fifty seven kilos to work with; i feel bad that it’s not enough for the guys to get what they need. i guess it’s enough for their first day back on lifting. we did some deadlifts, overhead press, rows, curls and even back squats with ghetto human rack. i’m going to be sore from all the curls i’ve missed in last decade or more

day 2459 – combo-ing

getting back into some combo work because it was about time to test out my knee on some aerials. worked on two different combos and was surprised i was able to get them out. i’m going be more strategic about practicing combo variations. really grateful that the coach stayed extra late getting me to drill the touchdown raiz. he pushed me and drilled me hard and i was exhausted, but it’s necessary and i find i need the pressure. if not for that, i would take way too long overthinking everything

day 2458 – bake cookies

felt quite lethargic from the moment i woke up this morning. i cut my lifting session short because i was running really low on gas. i only completed my cleans and front squat complex plus the row and good morning superset. i felt super bored in the afternoon so popped the cookie dough made by my friend. i shared the freshly baked white chocolate walnut cookies with my parents and ate the remaining three

day 2457 – whiskey hazelnut

earnest is a luxury that i save only to indulge as a reward. i had a rather rough week coping internally, especially in training. whenever there’s any sign of improvement in my knee, a setback happens like excessive inflammation during drills or walking into a car. what made me content is that even though things didn’t go well, i kept up with the training. it’s important to keep drilling, but it’s equally important to accept that some things may not be at it’s best and that’s when i can work on other skills

day 2456 – connecting handspring

got my first attempts at connecting the cartwheel and back handspring out of the way. with some assistance, we tried and tested different setups using the air track, panel mats and blue mat. my head hit the mats a number of times, but at least i know i can get over and it’s not that scary. the main takeaway from these attempts is relying on the push off. practicing for a stronger cartwheel will make the second half easier. i know this is totally achievable

day 2455 – catan expansion

what i can do within the house is quite limited. at times i feel bad letting the days go by not having been productive. i’ve never been a gamer, but playing on steam is a viable option. i’m now very addicted to both star chef and settlers of catan, but still have yet to get hooked on sims. staying inside tonight playing the catan expansion – cities and knights. this expansion is interesting in a way where you have to play both an individual game and team game

day 2454 – stubborn knee

it’s hard to stay positive when i was all eager to train raiz into red, but i can’t carry out the drill because my knee simply can’t take the landing on the mat. it started to get inflamed after five attempts and i wasn’t even at a point where i was doing it right yet. i teared up a little getting overly flustered and frustrated. the stubborn me says i’m still going to do this drill no matter what because i’m determined to get this move
