day 1734 – triceratops

img_20200130_2143495320299834953971957.jpgso much driving back and forth from vancouver and richmond just because i’m part timing in dinotown. after a play where the ball grazed my thumb the wrong way, it started not feeling right. knowing it’ll never be back to normal, i thought it was at least in a borderline functional state. just as i thought my thumb was back as good as it’ll ever be, i start getting doubts. i had to lay off immediately and make sure it doesn’t get worse. if it doesn’t get better, i’ll have to wear my splint again just to play

day 1733 Рdouble double headers

never have i played four games in one day, two double headers on the menu today. first double header is 9am softball in this rainy condition. it was so nice to have a hot shower after being soaked from the rain and mucky gravel fields. by the time i made it to the fourth and final game of the day, my brain has already shut down and my legs no longer want to function. at the end of all the games, hung out with the guys to chow down on wings. i’ll have to reconsider another four game day

day 1732 – grippy socks

img_20200204_1912016256833975830060068.jpgsporting the new free socks won from the nash challenge. came with two high quality grippy socks that feels really comfortable for running. this comes timely since it seems i’ve lost some socks lately and need to restock some socks. played another game on second line but no other word to describe than just plain awkward seeing the ex i don’t want to see. chilling with friends after civil war was enticing, but opting to go home was probably the better option so i can wake up for the sunday morning game

day 1731 – project overload

img_20200130_2134022509662159649638735.jpgit’s design reshuffle day and coordinated much of the move, but i was also the culprit who stalled the whole process. essentially everyone was waiting for me to move out of my workstation before they can move in, but i was adamant of replying four nasty emails. the bombardment of emails overnight came from someone who had no business in minding my projects; she’s not my manager and i need not report to her. she’s been slowly working at some leads and managed to break two. she’s turned her attention to me but has yet to find a way to unravel me. some say i’m really good with keeping my poker face and not getting to me has quite frustrated her. i felt the need to reply all four of them in a way to show she’s got nothing on me. i stand up for not only myself, but for the rest of my design team

day 1730 – ramen fuel

img_20200130_222956798942117395302690.jpgchomping down ramen for fuel and fire after taekwondo do and before a night of dodgeball. there’s all the reason for my teammates to bet on me tonight, but i didn’t disappoint. i needed some dodgeball fix, not to mention i didn’t want to miss two weeks in a row. the showdown that i won today is quite the battle; one that i can stand tall with. i played relatively well tonight considering the circumstances i had to face. i just need to rectify that very little stands between me and sports. one thing to figure out how in the world i can better grip the ball; my grip will have to adapt to something else

day 1729 – tape-less tape job

img_20200130_2119092999369881383456291.jpgreplacing new tape on top of old tape all week long. it appears i have tape on even when i don’t actually have any on. it’s been that kind of life since last week and i’m surviving off tape job after tape job until i can go into physio. as it stands, my workload is so insane there’s no way i can take time off for an appointment. this doesn’t stop me from going to dodgeball, and won’t stop me from going to taekwondo

day 1728 – penta social

img_20200130_2132337774499178211923591.jpgwent expecting to social with other penta players, but it wasn’t what i expected. there wasn’t much mingling involved, just eating, listening and drawing prizes. the social in this league is very different than the ones i’m used to going to; maybe the demographics is very different. the food was sub-par and disappointing, but at least we walked across the street to have a scoop of earnest. i’m surprised to see so many familiar faces within penta, many of which i met playing dodgeball

day 1727 Рnash challenge

picked up my gym goodie bag from winning the march nash challenge. it’s a big surprise because i never have the luck at any of these draws, contests or challenges. it’s a nice little gym bag with embroidered logo, perfect for one of the many sports i currently play. inside this gym bag were shaker bottle, a shirt, headphones, some protein bars, towel and coupons. i can definitely put them all to good use and keep going towards my fitness goals

sun run v3. 0

img_20200130_2203344295322358481492748.jpgthe sun run did not come stress-free nor pain-free. when i registered, i was in it to get my personal best time. prior to beginning any training, i wanted a finish in the fifties. as the months passed by, my confidence wavered, but i was still hoping for a sub sixty finish. as the final week rolled around, i knew i was in trouble. my knee cap was busted after taking a diving stab at the ball during handball, and i couldn’t walk without it being taped. i probably shouldn’t even be participating in the race; wasn’t sure if i could cover ten kilometre, let alone run it. when it’s all said and done, my third sun run was in the books. considering that made me sit out all week in hopes to preserve everything i had left in that knee, i did more than survive. it was more than a challenging character building for myself, not only because cardio had always been my weak point, but also for the condition i had to deal with. no, i didn’t make my sub sixty goal, and i’m not disappointed. i could’ve easily taken the easy route and backed out, i could have walked it, but i chose neither. my hour and three minutes finish was good for second in the company team. i kept up a good pace and ran continuously for the first five kilometres before any short stints of walking. at the end i still had some left in the tank to sprint through the finish line. i was tired, but felt susprisely good post ten kilometres. once again it’s proof about my character; if i set my mind to something, i won’t give up easily or back down from any challenges. i’m grateful for those who ran alongside me, who chose to give me words of encouragement even when i looked a little down and out. now that it’s all said and done, i will visit my physio to fix my knee before i decided on what challenges to take on next

day 1726 – sun run fun

it was a gutsy decision to continue with the run, but i’m stubborn that way. i’m glad i put my third sun run in the books with my best run time yet. the near one hour mark was good for second with my company, only to be ousted by a forty-two minute avid runner. couldn’t have asked for a better weather as it was perfect when i began to rack up my steps. running with someone makes me stay motivated to continue pushing forward. no recovery time allowed since i had to work a belt test hours later covering the ten kilometres. now it’s time to hit up my physio so he can fix my knees and get it back to being functional
