day 1645 Рspot the difference

i feel like i’m playing spot the difference every time i compare the new rendering with the old. there’s a huge shift in my work these days and i find i no longer spend much time at my own workstation. all morning long, i’ve been running around checking in at people’s desk, touched neither my breakfast toast nor morning fruits until around half past eleven. it was an uber stressful morning dealing with a fully loaded plate. i’ve been assigned so much more responsibilities colleagues jokingly said i now also carry the title as design manager assistant. i’m overtly tired after tutoring i opted out of gym and went home for some grub

day 1644 – bayside dineout

i was quite reluctant to join in on the dineout vancouver festival, but mom insisted on taking visiting relatives out to a special dinner. aside from the lone boring topic that bored me to death, the dineout menu was actually quite good. i especially liked my appetizer of ahi tuna with mango and avocado. it’s apparent i can never get tired of eating salmon. the striploin steak wasn’t bad but i couldn’t finish as usual but got help as usual. the eating as gone awry over the last few weeks and it has to stop immediately. i told myself after this meal, i’ll gear down and be much more disciplined with my eating

vdl baker retreat

rumour has it that the annual vdl baker retreat is described as one of a kind. rumour was bang on as the retreat didn’t disappoint and was nothing short of crazy. the three days spent with these lovely people certainly left many unforgettable memories. lots of stories took place over the weekend, but will be left untold because whatever happens at baker stays at baker. the kardashian cabin was cozy and only made cozier with twelve people in a cabin that regularly sleeps ten. i thought i’d rather go ski at mount baker because i didn’t want so much down time, but i’m glad i didnt. there’s several first moments, like sitting in the outdoor hot tub in the rain, drinking vodka via free pour, eating filipino spaghetti, seeing mountainous plates of bacon, kicking a six foot two guy in the face and walking into a green shop even knowing i’ll absolutely dislike it. i also learned more about myself and those around me. i would never survive in the wilderness because i am incapable of starting a fire, nor would i be able to go three straight days without being connected in some form. i found that some of the biggest hearts are found within the dodgeball exec body cause no matter the situation, we all care and look out for each other like family. i found out that the darker side of people’s past as i’m glad they felt at ease letting me into their inner self. after all, elected to devote my time for eight seasons to be one of these awesome people. to sum it up, it was a weekend of an unhealthy amount of booze and food everywhere, but it was one of the best weekends i’ve had in a long while. this was one of the rare times in the past year where i laughed genuinely; let’s keep the smiles up for the rest of the year

day 1643 – milking tea

i had such a good weekend i didn’t want it to end, or the fact i actually had a weekend. it’s back at work monday morning and drinking milk tea out of myself. i still feel slowed with a dull headache and is somewhat hungover. i’ll try to keep it tame this week for a change this. work will suck up a lot more of my energy because manager has for overtime from me as opposed to assumed overtime. the intention is to keep it as banked hours for the future, provided my assistance can come at the rate that work is increasing at

day 1642 – baker wrap

can’t say it hasn’t been a great weekend out at the glacial baker retreat. the cabin crew at kardashians was awesome to chill and room with. it’s great to see everyone together since everyone brings something unique to the table and we collectively make so much happen. i learned that i’m much more suited for urban city than the wilderness, and that i wouldn’t survive in the woods because i can’t start a fire. through this retreat, bonds have strengthened and i definitely look forward to our next outing

day 1641 – party cabin

after a pretty intense first night at the party cabin, the second day at baker was laid back one. woke up to have brunch, did grocery shopping, picked up parcels, sat in the hot tub and chilled around the cabin. the dinner of the century cook-off turned out with great success. the shot that we had while cooking hit me pretty hard since i hadn’t eaten since breakfast. my cabin baked salmon, stuffed mushrooms and mixed a fruit kale salad. my favourite by far was the salmon seaweed tartar with our baked salmon coming in second. it was only tame before the party started up again after dinner. i’m pooped and slightly buzzed after the party and couldn’t wait to pass out in my bunk while the drink fest started rounding up at 4am

day 1640 Рvdl retreat

still wasn’t packed an hour before midnight, but i am now so baker here i come. had a good look at my cozy cabin and claimed the bunk that i wanted to sleep in. the annual weekend getaway with the many vdl execs i work with throughout the season is always a hit. debated whether i should bring my ski equipment, but figured i’d save that for when i’m back in town. in the meantime, i’ll just savour the moment to chill and lay low while i can. one of the few weekends i can fully remove myself from all kinds of work
